Winter is a great time to enjoy Pumpkin, whether in soups, salads or baked. It has a vibrant orange flesh and is full-flavoured.
All our fresh produce stallholders are now stocking all their fabulous winter vegetables. Fabulous firm, white Cauliflower is used in lots of Indian recipes and is delicious crumbed and lightly fried. They are flying off our farmers’ tables at present.
Beans are crisp and firm.
You can make a meal memorable with Mushrooms, like the mushroom soup in the above picture. Add sliced mushrooms to pizza toppings, risotto and pasta sauce, or grill or barbecue the fleshy jumbo flats. Remember, the larger the mushroom the more intense the flavour.
Good News! We’ve already advised you that Ardeze, our local avocado growers, are back and doing a roaring trade. The local Avocado season finishes at Christmas and starts again just before Mother’s Day and we’re really pleased to have Ardeze adorning the market again.
