More Potassium than bananas

It’s true! Avocados contain more potassium than bananas, in fact, gram for gram, avocados have 35% more. Potassium is the 3rd most common mineral found in the body. Along with sodium, chloride and magnesium, potassium serves as one of the body’s critical electrolytes.

Electrolytes are vital to our health and maintaining adequate levels of potassium is essential for a number of vital bodily functions and ensuring good health.

Recent research has shown that eating avocados will actually lower blood cholesterol, which is quite the opposite of medical advice given in the 1970’s and 1980’s, when heart disease patients were advised not to eat avocados due to their high fat content!
Avocados have many more health benefits too. They’re fantastic for good skin and hair. They’re very high in fibre. They’re chockers with antioxidants, folate, lutein (good for the eyes) and Vitamin C.  However the best thing about avocados is the taste – they’re creamy, tasty, satisfying bundles of mouth-joy.

Come visit us and talk to two local dedicated avo growers at our Palm Beach Farmers’ Markets. Malcolm Stewart from Ardeze whose farm is in the beautiful Tallebudgera Valley,  Gold Coast and Duane Pierce of Banana Booth whose picturesque farm is located in Bilambil, in north-eastern New South Wales in the Tweed Shire.  Both farmers bring their “just picked” avos straight to our markets and we guarantee they have not been kept in refrigeration.
