Market Mates – Sunshine & Farmers Markets!
Not sure if you’ve had a chance to look at the weather forecast, but it looks like we might experience something we haven’t had for a very long time…. a sunny weekend this week.
Since it started raining last November, the topic of conversation from many of our customers has been when will it ever end? Many of our farmers have been impacted by the devastation of the floods and our hearts go out to those still impacted. All of us can’t wait to see the back of this rain event and to see more customers again. It now looks as though we may finally be getting our wish, if only for a short time!
Whilst the rain has been keeping some customers away, we want to thank everyone who has enjoyed a moist time here at Palm Beach. In particular, we’d like to thank the more than 1,000 or so regular members of the local community who came to the market last Saturday for their weekly fresh food supplies or those who, for the first time, voted at the school then wandered into the market to celebrate the end of the long federal election campaign, to enjoy a great cup of coffee and to stock up on fresh produce and gourmet foods for their families.
We’re hoping that Winter will bring some sunshine into all of our hearts.
AND … it’s Queensland avocado season again, even though our farmers have been battling the terrible rain events we’ve had this year. To add to this good news Ardeze, our avocado farmer from the Tallebudgera Valley is back this Saturday. Malcolm, Dianne and Robert Stewart have been bringing their premium quality avocados to our markets for almost 20 years. You can again stop, say hello and delight that your meal plans can again include the superb avocados from Ardeze
